Alliance Ginneries Zimbabwe is a Zimbabwean registered Agro-Industrial business. We are involved in every stage of funding, production, processing and marketing of cotton and its by-products. At present we have a grower database of 22 000 farmers with the potential to grow cotton on 50 000 hectares and provide well qualified extension and agronomic support to these farmers.

The intention is to grow this base in the future. We operate in the major cotton producing areas within the country, namely, Gokwe, Zambezi Valley, Sanyati and Mazoe Valley. Our factory premises are located in Norton, which is 40km west of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe where our head office is based. Within the

factory premises we have invested in a state of the art ginning plant, cooking oil processing plant as well as a planting seed processing plant.

Our business is also involved in the procurement of maize and soya-beans from small holder farmers mainly located in Mashonaland West and Central provinces. Our company is also proud to be part of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement comprising DEG (a financial institution registered in Germany) and Paul Reinhart AG (an international cotton merchant registered in Switzerland). This arrangement involves a long term commitment on the part of the three institutions to ensure sustainable cotton production amongst Zimbabwe's small holder farmers by focusing on training of farmers in integrated pest management as well as soil fertility management.

Related to the PPP arrangement we are also members of the Cotton Made in Africa (CmiA) initiative, which seeks to empower the African smallholder cotton producer to achieve efficient and environmentally friendly cultivation methods through agricultural training. We thus have a long term commitment to improve the livelihoods of our farmers through sustainable development cooperation.
